Welcome to Norris Bank Primary School.

At Norris Bank Primary School, we take great pride in creating a safe, inclusive and caring environment where every child is supported to achieve their personal best—academically, socially and emotionally. We are a school with high expectations, and this is reflected in the way we teach, learn and work together every day.

My name is Daniel Taylor, and I am the Acting Principal of this wonderful school. Norris Bank Primary School is renowned for its dedicated, caring and nurturing staff who create a positive culture where every child is known, valued and supported to succeed.

Our philosophy is simple: every child can learn when provided with the right opportunities, support and challenge. We value kindness, respect and curiosity because these qualities help our students become confident, compassionate and successful members of the community. At Norris Bank, we celebrate the achievements of others and foster a culture where every individual feels valued, included and encouraged to reach their full potential.

We are a school that truly feels like a family. From the moment students and families join our community, they become part of the Norris Bank family. We recognise that every child is unique, allowing us to tailor our approach to meet individual needs and maximise learning outcomes. Positive relationships are at the heart of everything we do and are one of our greatest strengths. Every student has multiple trusted adults they can turn to for guidance, support and encouragement, helping them develop resilience, perseverance and a positive mindset.

Teaching and learning are central to our work. We use evidence-informed practices to deliver a rigorous and engaging curriculum that challenges every student to achieve success. We believe learning is an active process, and our classrooms are places where students are encouraged to think deeply, participate confidently and strive for excellence. Our teachers use explicit instruction alongside a range of formative assessment strategies, including mini whiteboards, cold calling and ongoing checks for understanding, to monitor progress and respond to student needs. Consistent classroom routines and high expectations provide students with the structure and confidence they need to thrive.

Student wellbeing is another defining feature of Norris Bank Primary School. Our dedicated staff are passionate about building strong connections with every student and creating a positive environment where all children feel safe, respected and valued. Through the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program, students develop the social and emotional skills needed to become respectful, resilient and responsible members of our community. We also celebrate student success through initiatives such as Student of the Week and Norris Banker Awards, recognising the positive choices, effort and growth demonstrated by our students.

Our school grounds provide outstanding opportunities for learning, play and physical activity. Students enjoy two modern playgrounds, a basketball court, expansive oval, quadrangle with bat tennis courts, sandpit, cubby house and a well-equipped hall that supports our Physical Education program throughout the year.

Community is at the centre of everything we do. We value strong partnerships with families and actively encourage them to be involved in school life. Throughout the year, we host a range of community events including Grandparents Morning, Book Week celebrations, Mother's and Father's Day stalls, assembly morning teas and many other special occasions. We also work closely with local kindergartens to provide school visits, transition activities and taster sessions for future Foundation students. Our comprehensive transition program in Term 4 ensures every child begins their schooling journey feeling confident, connected and excited.

It is a privilege to lead the Norris Bank Primary School community, and I warmly invite prospective families to visit our school.
