Classroom - 3/4R, 3/4T and 3/4G

Years 3 and 4

At Norris Bank Primary School we value Integrity, Learning, Self-worth and Co-operation. In the three grades in our area we expect the children to actively follow the school values whilst engaging in a stimulating and carefully planned program that promotes a sense of security and acceptance.

The grades are currently housed in temporary classrooms as we were fortunate enough to be chosen to be part of the Government’s Stimulus Package. The children showed great resilience in relocating to their new classrooms and very little disruption occurred to our program.

The three teachers, Heather Tamblyn, Jo Gibbs and Chris Rowe are all caring and dedicated teachers who maintain colourful and stimulating classrooms full of challenges and effective learning. The three teachers all bring different skills to the school and have developed into a strong and effective team.

In Years 3 and 4 the emphasis is on building skills based on the strong foundations laid in Prep to year 2, whilst enabling children to recognise preferred learning styles and developing more independent skills. There is a great deal of emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy and all work is integrated into the planning to make learning achievable, relevant and engaging.

Our school camp is always a highlight of our year, and this year we are off to Waratah Bay near Wilson’s Prom for a three day activity camp. The cost of our camp is $260. Six adults will accompany the 51 children to Camp Waratah Bay. A good time will be had by all, but the teachers know not to expect a lot of sleep!

Our school concert is another wonderful highlight of a busy year. As this is being written we are hard at rehearsals for our production of “Norris Bank PS : 100 Years Young.” Jo’s grade is performing “Daddy Cool” as a tribute to the 1970’s, Chris’s grade is singing and dancing to “The Mighty Red Baron” in memory of the First World War and heather’s grade will “Twist and Shout” to look back at the 1960’s. DVD’s of the performance are available to see just how committed the school is to Performing Arts and also to see how well Norris Bankers take the challenge to perform for friends, family and the community.
