Assessment of student progress is on-going. Teachers use a range of tools to monitor student progress including those provided by the Department of Education and Training (DET), educational research organisations and teacher generated assessment tasks. Teachers use the information gathered through the assessment tools to make judgements on students’ progress against the AusVELS and to inform planning for future learning. Students comment on their own progress through self-assessment tasks, learning journals and portfolios.
Teachers are available to meet with parents and students at any mutually convenient time, however at certain times of the year the school organises more formal opportunities to meet and all parents and students are encouraged to participate. Parent and teacher meetings are conducted early in Term 1. Student-led conferences are held early semester 2, and these involve students presenting their portfolios and discussing their learning with their parents and teacher. An optional meeting time is provided at the end of semester 2. Written reports are sent home at the end of each semester. The school uses the Accelerus Light reporting package.
